Webinar - The Virtues of Localization in South Africa for European Companies - 26 August 2020

Manufacturing is the country’s fourth largest industry, contributing 14% to the gross domestic product (GDP) in South Africa. The sector of food and beverages is the largest component of South Africa's manufacturing industry, closely followed by the petroleum and chemicals products component, motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment and a third place goes to basic iron and steel. These three industries alone make up almost 70% of the total manufacturing industry of South Africa. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a serious impact on the output produced, with demand declining consistently, during lockdown period.

International relations remain key for the success of the manufacturing industry in South Africa, and to secure supply chains and demand for South African products. To remain resilient, the industries will have to re-think, launch new products and services, create new skills to manage complexity and variability, improving processes, introducing IT solutions and searching for new sales channels.

This webinar focuses on unpacking the challenges and opportunities of the Manufacturing Industries in South Africa, and exploring possible forms of collaboration between Italian and South African entities to establish mutual benefits. The Webinar will also present a platform for discussion and further engagement on a B2B basis with African counterparts on the 9th and 10th September 2020 at the Africa B2B expo.
